Since retiring from the prison two years ago, I have been working at a local animal shelter. Some of the stories I will share with you.
The most recent is about a boxer dog. We will call him Trooper. Five times I have been called by a local police department to pick him up after he ran away from home. It seems that he has an electric fence and it is not stopping him from roaming. Each time he is returned to his family it costs them a higher amount in fees to get him home. I guess money is no object especially since they live in what looks to be a $350,000.00 home! With all the money this family appears to have you would think that they would invest in a fence to keep their beloved Boxer at home. Maybe they just don't care. He has been at the shelter for two days now and no one has come to claim him. I feel so sorry for him. He is one of the best dogs I have had to deal with and I guess I just can't understand why the family could let him sit at the shelter and not inquire about him. I wish I could adopt him, he likes to sit on the front seat of the truck next to me. :)
